Operator Technician – Eastover

Specialty Minerals Inc., an international, research-based, mining, minerals, and chemical company, has an opening for an Operator Technician at its plant in Eastover, SC. The plant is on the site of International Paper and manufactures a raw material used in their paper making process.Requirements:The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day plant activities, operating and maintaining of a computer controlled process, performing various quality control lab tests, unloading of bulk product, as well as working in a team environment that promotes safety, clear communication, leadership, creativity and overall, continuous improvement for both the individual and the Company. The candidate will also be responsible for providing maintenance support to the facility. Duties include calibration and troubleshooting of process equipment, repair/replacement of valves, piping, pumps, and motors, maintaining an inventory system, etc. Multi-trade skills, a working knowledge of computer system, and instrumentation trouble-shooting repairs a plus. PC skills will be required for monitoring, administrative, financial, purchasing and records keeping responsibilities. Qualifications include a solid education in computer based process control or related field and/or several years experience working with computer based process control equipment and processes. The successful candidate must be highly motivated, creative, display integrity, have outstanding interpersonal skills and be a team player. A background in mechanical/electrical maintenance is desired. The plant is a continuous operation and the employee will be on a rotating shift including some weekends. Availability to travel as a technical resource to SMI as required is necessary.
